“I Was Pretty Bankrupt Last Year” — Bobby East Opens Up About His Financial Struggles
Zambian rapper and XYZ Entertainment CEO, Bobby East, has opened up about one of the toughest periods in his life, revealing that he was bankrupt in 2024.
Known for creating hit songs and successfully transitioning into business, Bobby East has long been admired for his versatility and resilience. However, his recent revelation on Kenny T’s 1on1 Podcast showed a side of him that fans rarely get to see.
“Nobody knew that I was pretty bankrupt last year, in heavy debt,” Bobby East confessed.
He went on to explain that despite appearing to be doing well, he was facing deep financial challenges behind the scenes. “We made some investments, and my fans know that we run more than three companies. But the economy took a hit — all our goods were imported, and our rentals were in dollars. We just couldn’t keep the lights on. I ended up using show money just to keep things going,” he said.
The rapper revealed that during that time, fear of not being able to provide for his family weighed heavily on him. “It went south really quickly, and I thought to myself — this is my biggest fear, not being able to provide. I had to either fight through it or give up. I can only talk about it now because I’ve fully recovered,” Bobby East shared.
Fans have since praised him for his honesty and resilience, with many saying his story serves as an inspiration for anyone going through financial hardships.
